Basically, if you just go through your day and nothing at all motivates you or you don't really look forward to anything, (except maybe sleep,) then yeah, your will is gone. But your SI is different. Its that reaction that makes you grab something when you think you're falling or stops you from drinking that foul smelling liquid because its potentially poisonous.

The instinct to live is based in the brain which is programmed for survival. This is why when many people attempt ctb they are unable to go through with it. The person might actively want to die but the brain stops them. So it is emotions vs instinct.
