I am going to kill myself either tonight or tomorrow night, and while I am confident in my abilities to tie a proper noose I am not sure what knot I should use to actually suspend it in my closet.

Firstly I'm sorry to hear that life is so bad that you are considering committing suicide.
If you look on the wiki it suggests a snuggle hitch. Or you could use a clove hitch. The snuggle hitch is more secure though. I personally use the clove hitch with an additional knot to make it more secure.
