Something you can do to trick your brain to just thinking its a smaller task then what it is by just think of doing one thing at a time. Like at first just only think, just get in the shower, then just only think turn on the water so and so on with how you do showers (i don't know how to actually have a shower)

What is it that's making you not want to shower? Is it the tiredness of the process, getting started, the feeling of the water?
Sometimes when I really didn't wanted to shower I tried doing so with the lights off. Like enter the bathroom in total darkness as a sort of sensory depravation thing. No idea why that would work but it sometimes tricked my brain into a "oh this is new and different, this is totally not a shower" state so I'm just throwing stuff out there.

LMAO if I had seen this a year or two ago it ABSOLUTELY would've gotten me off my ass and into the shower! Now though I shower pretty regularly, mostly because I realized I dont like the feel of how greasy my hair is when I don't

Sometimes I get so uncomfortable with my body that I have the same issue, I try to force myself by starting the process unconsciously (i think??) I just count down in my head from 5 and then grab my shower bag and go to the bathroom (bc im in a dorm) and by the time I come back to my senses its too late to turn back.

First of all, the thought that you should take a shower is a win. But waiting to do it makes the hurdle even bigger.

I always put on some music or a podcast to shift my attention and I use the soap that smells the best. On normal days (manageable depression) I use the usual shower gel for men, like iceberg/power/Motor oil stuff from axe. But after days of not showering I use some girly stuff to smell like a Disney princess. It helps me to get back to "normal".

sometimes when i feel like i dont have the energy or will to shower i literally just turn the water on and sit there in the shower, i can cope with being smelly but greasy hair is a sensory nightmare for me so personally i usually at least manage to wash my hair even if its sat down

As someone who is both trans and did struggle to shower in the past, for me the fresh feeling of feeling clean after a shower helped a lot, nowadays that alone is enough for me to get myself into a shower. You can also treat yourself to something if you manage to take a shower, be it some meal or something else. If you really can't, try to keep it short. I can hop in and out of a shower in 5 minutes, that ususally makes doing it easier. Hope it helps.

I always find it helpful to have my phone playing music because I hate feeling alone. (Sometimes if you can figure out the reason for a dislike, you can work on ways to combat it.) Also, maybe think about how proud you'll be after you do it?

Tie it to something you like/enjoy doing, like some here have said, listening to your favorite music, maybe watching a YouTube video you like. Try just at first going into the bathroom and turning on the shower, you don't have to get undressed or step in. Take small steps towards actually taking a shower, maybe at first just go to the bathroom and then come back to your room. Start small and then grow big.

If you have a tub you could try a bath if a shower seems too much or is overwhelming! Being able to lay down, go at my own pace and not having to stand if you have no energy can help sometimes.

+1 to the above, I find baths a lot less taxing than showers, which helps a lot since I have to take multiple showers daily. I have a similar issue you got when it comes to brushing my teeth, I outright have to force myself to do it often, and what helped was trying to fit it in while I'm bathing. It takes time, but eventually you build up the reward response in your brain by finding things you enjoy about being fresh and clean.

I REALLY don't like the feeling of being grimy and stinky, so maybe you need to condition yourself to dislike not being clean as opposed to like being clean.

I had to scuff up all the shiny surfaces in my shower for this exact reason. Lately been working out so I've been forced to look in the mirror to track my progress which sucks, but it's getting better.

Next time you poop, shower afterwards. Allow yourself to feel gross after the poop and think about feeling clean post shower. This helps me sometimes when I've gone a while without showering.

plan or set up and gather stuff for a shower or bath one to three days in advance or even a week in advance

this could mean just putting all your essentials and clothes in a bag and placing them in bathroom or shopping around for stuff you'd like to smell like to use in advance

think about multitasking or what other hygiene things you can get done in the shower like skin care and brushing your teeth

if you're still not able to make it do not just cover yourself in sprays or deoderants, buy some wipes that are meant for the face and body (like baby wipes) so you can get and feel somewhat clean without taking a bath or shower

and for dental hygiene mouthwash, with or without alcohol
