• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

So according to this theory (if I got it correct) everything will drift apart and freeze to death and all potential life inhabiting planets will no longer be able to support life.

"The heat death of the universe (also known as the Big Chill or Big Freeze) is a theory on the ultimate fate of the universe, which suggests the universe would evolve to a state of no thermodynamic free energy and would therefore be unable to sustain processes that increase entropy. Heat death does not imply any particular absolute temperature; it only requires that temperature differences or other processes may no longer be exploited to perform work. In the language of physics, this is when the universe reaches thermodynamic equilibrium (maximum entropy)."

This coincides with my post on existential nihilism.
[Edit: not sure why I added that lol]

Who gives a shit?
"The death of a mouse from cancer is the whole sack of Rome by the Goths,
The end of the British Empire is the munching of coats by some moths."

Yeah, the universe will eventually "die" and there will be nothing left.
However, we have the STRING THEORY so, there might be infinite dimensions (or universes according to some other theories) out there!

Maybe there are some versions of ourselves who are not suicidal! :pfff:

I feel you may be confusing 'universes' with 'dimensions'.

It's one theory based on our very limited current understanding of how the universe works. It may be an interesting thought experiment but in the end it's moot because we have hardly begun to understand the universe.

It's just a theory...in reality no one knows what will happen and new things are always being discovered.

What I want to know is if the big bang theory is real then where did the original singularity come from? What if after heat death, a new singularity somehow arises? I have zero expertise in this but just a thought.

Oh yeah, that could be possible too!
Multiverse and multiple dimensions stuff makes me go crazy! I love them.

David Bedford wrote a piece of music called "Star's End", the original title being "The Heat Death of the Universe"...(featuring Mike Oldfield of TUBULAR BELLS fame...)
