  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

As a new year's resolution I decided to keep a diary and write down on it every day; it may even just be a sentence but I decided I wanted to write everyday.
So far I managed to almost do it daily (sometimes I simply forget about it) and it has really helped me.
Not only I get to endlessly rant in my diary when talking about my day; having to write down everyday how I feel helped me recognize some patterns in how I usually feel.
For anyone who wants to try out this experience I greatly recommend the app "Diarium" because it has reminders that pushed more into writing everyday.
Have you ever had a diary, what's your experience with it?

So happy that you are finding diary keeping helpful. I have started them in the past and things like appreciation journals, yet never can keep them going.

I read this as "Having a dairy is very relaxing" and was confused for a moment lol. But yeah, I agree with you. I kept a diary from age 8 till 18 (is "till" correct here?? English isn't my first language haha) and then I somehow stopped as I got a bit busier after graduating high school. Recently I've found myself with no one to talk to and I think I'll take up journaling again, at least occasionally. Confiding your thoughts to a journal is still better than keeping them all to yourself

Gratitide journals are great but sometimes it can also be a good thing to let out all your negative emotions, just to get it all out and have a calmer mind. Some people find it relaxing to write everything down and then discard it, for both symbolic and practical reasons (makes you less worried about the possibility of other people finding and reading it)

It is
I have always kept a diary in so.e form since I was a teenager. It helps me process my thoughts unfiltered because I know no one will read them. Just in the past year I've gone through two 280 page moleskin notebooks and now on to my third. Its nice to have a space when the mind gets too crowded.

I've had a diary-like notebook for several years now. Around 80% of the time when I'm extremely overwhelmed or need to get something off my mind I write in it. It's a good coping skill.

Reading back on past entries is pretty depressing. It does give me a very accurate timeline of events though, considering my memory is pretty fuzzy. It's nice to "scream" into something that will listen and not judge me back.

Think I need one as a dump for dark emotions and then a separate one for appreciation and healing thoughts. I am getting ready to go live with housemates again, and they will not tolerate my suicidal self-talk in the way my mother does on this visit. Thanks for bringing up topic.
