Shoelace seems like a perfect choice for partial. But I'm not sure how sturdy it is. I fear that it might break during syncope while I was unconscious, even though I do not weight very much. Has anyone here had a failed attempt at hanging due to shoelace breaking?
I have, but I think that the rope was too high up so it ended up trying to hold my entire weight and snapped, or maybe I just fell too quickly and put too much force on it at once. It did cut into my neck and leave a noticeable mark (it was bleeding). I'd go for something a bit thicker and stronger if you can but you can probably make it work if you are careful.
I made two half-hearted attempts with a long usb cable which I think would be stronger than a shoelace. The first time the attic door I was hanging it on broke open and the second time, using a different cable, The cable snapped near the top. I don't think a shoelace would be a reliable way to go.
