If I shoot myself in the heart with a 9 mm gun would it be good enough to kill me? I live in Europe and hollow points aren't used here, normal bullets are used, I think they're called Full Metal Jacket if I'm not mistaken, they're made from lead and copper. I know that hollow points are the most lethal type of bullets but the other type of bullets should also be lethal, so if I shoot myself in the heart it should still kill me right? Also would this type of gun be good enough, the 9 mm gun? There are multiple types of 9 mm guns, I was thinking about a 9mm×19 gun but I think the other types should also be enough. I know shooting myself in the heart would be painful but that's not a problem for me, the most important thing is I die and I think a gun is a good option compared to other methods

Well, it would most likely get the job done. The most important thing is that you hit your target, because if you miss, you'll likely just pierce a lung. Admittedly, that will probably kill you too, just much slower. Mortality rates from gunshot wounds to the chest range from 14.6% to 36%, granted that is outdated data, but I doubt bullets have become any less deadly. Not to mention, that's accounting for hospital aid, which I assume you're not looking for. Either way, I'm sorry for whatever made you feel the need to take your own life, and I hope you find the peace you're looking for. Good luck, my friend.

Hollow points are not required.
People regularly died of gunshot wounds long before hollow points were available.
Targeting is the important part.

From military to self defense classes you're taught to shoot center mass. (Chest) supposedly faster take down. However with a close shot to the chest if you hit your sternum or a rib there is a likely chance it will ricochet and not hit your heart.

The heart isn't located exactly behind the sternum, part of it is behind the sternum while another part is slightly on the left side, behind a few ribs, but there are also openings to it from the photos I've seen about its location. There's a risk of shooting the sternum but there's also a chance of aiming the heart correctly and not hitting the sternum or ribs, that's why it's very important to aim correctly. I think the type of gun and bullet also matters, if it's a strong and fast bullet then it should penetrate the sternum or ribs and hit the heart. I'm not an expert on the different type of guns and bullets, I'm only saying in case I can get a gun, I would shoot myself in the heart because even if I shoot myself in the head, there have been cases of people surviving a gunshot to the head, I wouldn't want that so for me it's better if I shoot myself in the heart, many people shot themselves in the heart and died. The heart is major organ so if you shoot it then you'll most likely die. I was thinking about a 9 mm gun because it's a popular type of gun, many people use it, it's easy to control and shoot with and it has powerful enough bullets to be lethal. If I use a bigger gun I'm afraid it might be more difficult for me to control it and I might miss the target when I shoot myself because of the recoil, so a handgun that's easier to control and doesn't have a big recoil could be a better option, that's why I mentioned a 9 mm gun. Even if it doesn't have hollow points, the other type of bullets should still be good enough right? Hollow points aren't necessary if you want to kill yourself, the most important thing is that you aim correctly and hit the target

I wanted to see if you have an opinion about this, would a 9 mm gun be good enough to kill myself like this, assuming I don't use hollow points because they're not in Europe? Would the other type of bullets be strong and fast enough to penetrate the sternum or ribs and hit the heart? Although like I said, there are openings where the heart is located, it's not all covered behind the sternum and ribs. Or would another type of gun be better for this? I want a gun that's easy to control and doesn't have a lot of recoil so it will be easier for me to aim correctly at my heart and shoot but also it needs to have strong enough bullets

What "other type of bullets" are we taking into consideration??

Full Metal Jacket, soft point bullets and any other bullets that can be lethal, so any lethal bullets that aren't hollow points. I want to focus more on Full Metal Jacket bullets though, that's the type of bullet I would want to use for the method
