@Emcc04 here is a good video illustrating a head shot. There is also a megathread on this topic you can access from the link provided.

Tilt the gun back and brace the barrel with your other hand. For a revolver at least. You don't want to interfere with the slide on an auto. Shooting through the temple seems awkward to me and more likely to mess up.Last edited:

@Emcc04 Do you have a particular type firearm you are planning on using?
If your going with a shotgun, I reccomend you watch the Ronnie McNutt suicide video, as it clearly shows an effective placement.
There are also numerous medical journal entries, and publicized autopsy reports that give a good indication of proper firearm placement.Last edited:Similar threads
