This is very sad to read 😔. Poor young lady. She obviously changed her mind about ending it all. This is more evidence that SN is very lethal. In her case it is a tragedy for her and her family. She donated her liver to that old lady which I'm sure the woman is eternally grateful.

I'm trying to work out your fear. If you are saved too late and die like she did, isn't that the goal? If it isn't, why are you taking the SN?

As for the article, it's nice to know organs can still be donated in cases like this.

Doesn't this just proves how effective sn is and that you can die even if you call help immediately. Am I dumb but doesn't the article say that the girl died, brain dead means dead, right?

in my country you would stay like a vegetable for the rest of your life, and this is just one ipotesis, you could be brain damaged but not as bad as her and be coscient of your sourranding and not be able to move or talk....
yes brain dead means she died. 😔
yep, but you know that you could be saved and be aware of being a vegetable for the rest of your life
But she died.
yes, she died. in my country they would not allowd to switch off the machine and the brain could be aware of you being a vegetable

yes, but are you aware that she could had the brain not damaged at that level and still be aware of you being a vegetable. and in my country the will not switch off the machine.

Has there ever been a case of somebody becoming a vegetable from SN? I've certainly never seen any. You're usually either dead or alive with no permanent damage. It's sad that the poor girl changed her mind though. People doing SN without being fully committed to CTB is sad but I guess that goes for any method.

Ingesting 25 grams of sodium nitrite (NaNO₂) is extremely dangerous and potentially fatal, as it disrupts oxygen transport in the blood, causing methemoglobinemia and severe oxygen deprivation. The estimated lethal dose is around 2-6 grams, so 25 grams can lead to severe cerebral hypoxia, permanent neurological damage, seizures, coma, or death. Survival without permanent damage depends on how quickly medical treatment is administered; with immediate intervention, such as methylene blue antidote, the effects may be reversible, but prolonged oxygen deprivation can cause irreversible brain damage or death.

this is what chat gpt has said to me.

and "irreversible brain damage" is what scares me since i can only do it in my house with a family member in the room next to mine

God.. I'm in the same situation. I have to do it in my apartment next to my fams member. I'm so nervous about that. Feeling of fault just eats me inside out. But... I don't have any choice. My health ruined me and keep ruining my family.

How are you going to do it next to family member? At night? You can DM me if you want.

I wouldn't take anything an LLM tells you as fact. I'd be interested in seeing a case of somebody turning into a vegetable from SN but I'm thinking no such case actually exists. The only way you live is if you are rescued. Ideally you should be left alone for about 6 hours. Death occurs far before that point but I think I've seen cases where people were rescued hours after taking SN and even in those situations they make a full recovery...

i was thinking to start listening to some podcast a few day before doing it am tell them i need it to fall asleep
plus using a ton of benzo and paracetamol and AE as suggested... maybe offering the family member who will be here a cup of hot tea and put a few drops of benzo into it to let her sleep more deeply.. i don't have any other ideas more than this

That is incredibly saddening. Unfortunately, everything comes with risk. Reading that she ended up changing her mind, but still ending up braindead…I can't imagine how afraid she must have been. Poor girl. May she rest in peace.
