Hi guys,

these past few months I have lost a lot of money gambling, namely money I don't have. I've been looking for a job for a long time now, after I had to quit my studies. I only work a few hours a week and it's been very stressful to live off so little money. So in hopes I could win something, I gambled. And I won a bit, but was too stupid to get it paid out at the right time, and so I lost, again.

This month, however, has been worse. I lost the money I need to pay my rent. I split the rent between myself and my flatmate and I don't have the money to pay my part. We are leaving the apartment in 3 months to live separately again, so she won't have to deal with me much longer, but still we gotta pay and my flatmate is pissed cause it is my fault we can't pay. I will write our landlord to apologise for the delay and I am so sorry but there's not much more I can do. I feel so ashamed. It's making my suicidality worse. On the one hand I don't want to disturb my flatmate by committing suicide, on the other hand I want to finally stop being a burden.

Please anyone help me how I can resolve this situation? I know technically paying rent late a month is not the end of the world, but it feels like it is.

I would just be open with your landlord. Could anyone in your family loan you the money?

Gambling is a form of self-stimulation like alcohol or drugs. It has similar dangers. You might try contacting Gamblers Anonymous.
