Help finding body

I am in the process of planning by CTB soon. I live alone, so I don't think that being found prematurely will be an issue, but I do need someone to find my body before too much time has passed. I was thinking of either sending a delayed email to my landlord, or the local police, maybe both timed out 30 hours after. Before I go, I am also writing letters to the handful of important people in my life, do you think that I should hand write and mail them the day of, or delayed email for a day after the police have been notified? I plan on leaving a formalized note for the authorities with next of kin contact information, and the passwords for my computers, and phone, is this a good idea? I'm in the US, does anyone know aside from mailing an object, and without a will, how to give someone one of my possessions after I pass?

I would not recommend to send delayed e-mails or letters. Imagine your attempt fails and you survive. It can happen that you end up in psych. ward.

I plan on using SN, and following Stan's guide. I live alone, and so I do not anticipate failure. If for some reason I did, the authorities will already know, so the difference is that close friends will know? Alternatively, if I do not send mail them, or delayed e-mail them there is no way that I can ensure my body will be found timely, and that my close friends will ever get to read the words I want them to.

I would say scheduled emails are probably the best option for you. You can also cancel them if you change your mind but make sure to put a reminder on your phone to cancel future emails or even write on a post it not and stick somewhere where you will easily see it before the date of the email.

In terms of timing i would say 12 hours after your predicted time of death is best.

In terms of your possessions maybe speak to a lawyer as they can give the best advice.

A will is the most effective way to guarantee that someone specific receives a certain object after you die. (The next-best way is to give it to them *before* you die.) And you don't need to go to a lawyer to get a will made up. Just write / type out your wishes (be specific about who and what), sign and date it.

I would not recommend to send delayed e-mails or letters. Imagine your attempt fails and you survive. It can happen that you end up in psych. ward.

But you can cancel the delayed e-mails if you decide not to go through with the attempt. If you do and the attempt fails- either you will still be well enough to cancel the delayed emails or you may well be in hospital or the psyche ward- in which case, it's probably already clear what you were trying to do. (Although I know some people have managed to pass off a failed attempt as a mysterious accident.) That's just my perspective though. I do take your point but I'm in a similar position to the OP.
