Figuring out what SI means

Idk if this has been mentioned before, but I thought it was funny.

I've been in treatment for several years and this is my first time in a community like this. But in treatment, I might be asked to "rate my SI from 0 to 10" or share that "feeling trapped is a huge SI trigger for me", or so forth. We all know without really having to say it that SI = Suicidal Ideation.

So I come here and I'm reading through recent threads and I hear people talking about trying to overcome SI, like why the fuck would a bunch of suicidal people hellbent on ctb want to overcome suicidal ideation??

And then it hit me. Survival Instinct. SI.

I guess with all the abbreviations it can sometimes be confusing, but the survival instinct can be very frustrating. Even know we want to die we are programmed to survive. I wish you the best.
