I think William Faulkner wrote that "the past isn't dead, it isn't even past". I'm not even sure that actual events even matter - some people just have a tendency to ruminate and think negatively of themselves and things they have done. I'm definitely Exhibit A in that category. Conversely, I know people who have the power to move beyond negative life events or have the pure sociopathy of not caring.

Ultimately, I wish I could grant myself the ability to accept myself for who I am, including my tendency to think focus inward negatively. But I don't think I can - which is why I wish it was just done. It'd be a lot easier on me and those in my life.
