Yes, it is calming, like a hot shower. I remember thoroughly enjoying an old space heater when I was a kid. The soft whirr of the fan, the smell of heated dust, staring into the glowing orange coils.
I hate the sound of a hair dryer. Noise does not relax me. I dislike drying my hair, it hurts my arm and my hair is quite long so it takes a decent length of time. It tends to make my tinnitus worse as my hair dryer is loud.
