I very often have horrible dreams. Lots of anxiety dreams. Sometimes full on horror type scenarios. I've noticed though that, even if there's some long, horrible build up to some terrible event happening- even if it does happen even, the dream usually resolves whatever it is with a nicer ending. It's almost like I finally become a little more conscious and decide to spare myself the very worst outcome. Not exactly lucid dreaming. But, more lucid than the start of the dream. How about you? Do your bad dreams stay bad throughout or, do you get a reprieve at the end?

This is how my dreams usually go, pretty much exactly like you described. Except it's not usually horror scenarios but me being stupid/cringe or ruining some situation or embarrassing myself horribly. Often loosely based on real life events from my past. Towards the end I also become semi-lucid when I realise something horrible is about to happen, usually as a consequence of the bad decisions I made earlier in the dream. Then I sort of "steer" the ending to be less bad than it originally would have been but I don't have full control and I'm not fully aware. Once I become completely lucid 90% of the time I wake up instantly. Interestingly, I rarely remember the content of my dreams after an hour or so of being awake, but I do usually remember the overall themes/sentiments if that makes any sort of sense.

Idk, sometimes I wake up feeling anxious or pissed so I do something else right away to forget it as fast as possible, works well lol.

Supposedly everyone dreams every time they sleep at least 3 hours but only remember or are aware of dreams when they awaken if there if sleep is disturbed during rem sleep, which is the part of the sleep cycle when dreams occur. I don't have this happen anymore usually, but when recently I was involuntarily committed to psych hospital for 2 months it was happened nearly every night and it had nothing to do with meds they were giving me. Don't know why. I used to have pre-cognitive dreams when I was younger. In case you don't know, that means dreams that come to pass or come true. I also used to have recurring nightmare where I was in prison convicted of horrible crimes that I did not commit. I used to worry that this would come to pass in real life but so far it hasn't. I'm over 70 now and don't think it's going to anymore. At least if it does now , I won't have that much time to serve before I die.

My dreams are either fighting with my parents or partner or some sort of event where people die.

So no.

Never really. My dreams are either about being trapped somewhere (like prison) or having to do something overly long and tedious that takes an exaggerated amount of time, like looking for something I need. I dream about losing teeth and giant insects often too.

I dream about... normal life. Almost always good dreams.
Meeting non-existent friends. A noisy cheerful company in a restaurant. Or a date with a non-existent girl. Full of romance and love. Or a long trip with non-existent relatives. With a feeling of care and family kindness.
Sometimes I feel that during sleep I'm peeking into other people's normal lives. It's like I understand that this isn't happening to me, but to someone else, and I'm lucky to get a glimpse of what it's like to have a good life.
So, I hope that when I fall asleep for the last time, I'll see a piece of that normal life that didn't happen to me. I'd like it to be the last thing I see or feel. Even if it's someone else's life, it's still a good life :)

My dreams don't really have 'endings'. Usually I'll just wake up at some point and realise I'm awake and was dreaming. If I don't replay the dream and what happened then I quickly forget everything about it.

This morning I had a dream, it was interesting so I was replaying it before waking up. I still don't remember much of it clearly. I was climbing some fantastical apartment complex to the 28th floor, a reference to where one of my relatives lives. One of the levels had a whole park which I got lost in and I had to find my way back to the stairs. Then I somehow ended up in a classroom which I needed to get out of as some people were coming to murder us all. So I quietly excused myself and went outside, even forgetting to put my shoes on. I hid behind a corner and put them on, when I saw one of the people looking for me walk past. I had a hunch that this person was actually a decoy to put me off guard, and there were more people behind that were going to follow me.

At this point I woke up, so it was neither a happy or bad outcome, like I paused a movie and don't know what happens next.

I can't remember any of my recent dreams. But ones I do remember usually include a mix of locations and a lot of the times there is a body of water nearby. Also a lot of times I'd wake up before something significant is about to happen. And sometimes I'd remember dreams within dreams.
