Do you think people close to you will be accepting of your passing when you ctb?

I have battled openly for so long, I hope that people can at least have compassion for my choice. Compassion without guilt.

Absolutely not. Most close family are religious and I am also leaving notes letting them know I got to this point solely thanks to them. I do not think that will go over well.

It's really hard to predict how they'll react. I've been fairly high functioning in life so, I think it would come as a shock to some. I think it will be a mix of: 'We had no idea' and: 'Thinking about it, there was always something a bit off'. Which are obviously totally opposite statements.

As to whether they'll sympathise, again, I've no idea really. They'll most likely think it was some hidden mental illness/ torment I was struggling with. I guess that annoys me but then, whatever really.

Something I really hope is that they'll acknowledge somewhere that I held on for my closest loved ones to go first. I've had ideation to varying intensities for 35 years. That's a long and arduous time to hold out, only for some selfish prick to call my action selfish. That's what annoys me the most really. That someone might feel annoyed or angry at me. Not that I'll be around to know.

Sadly no, that's the hardest part of all of this. They will never understand, never acccept, never get over it. It'll irreparably break them.

If you're gone, you're gone; there's nothing else for them to do besides accept it, even if it's hard or painful or confusing for them. Life goes on for the living.

The people closest to me are sick of my suicidal ideation. I've been struggling with this ever since I was 8 years old and whenever I vent or ask for help they just get mad at this point.

I don't think they'll forgive me when I do it.

If I ever catch the bus one day, I think it would take almost everyone by surprise. I could probably count on one hand the number of people who know about my suicidal thoughts.

I don't think many of them would see it coming, considering how well I manage to hide what I'm going through. So I doubt most of them would be able to accept it.

But I'm sure that eventually, they'll all move on with their lives.

Not really, no. I think some people would be less surprised than others but I think that my parents would gaslight everyone, including themselves, into believing that there was so signs. I've been struggling with SI since I was a toddler yet no one realized that until I was basically forced into therapy.

Honestly I don't think so. They'll understand why I did it but not forgive me for it. The only person I'd feel really bad about it is my mom. Since tearing a child away from a mother's hand will always be tragic for me.

Everyone but my parents. My mom is so attached to me, like to an extreme level, that I can't imagine her being happy again. My dad would be ok emotionally but he relies on me for a lot of things. My dream would be to never have my body be found.

My extended family are very religious and will probably claim I'm burning in hell, call me selfish etc. My father would be upset but seeing as how Im a leech dependent on him he'll eventually get over it and live without having to worry about me.

death is a part of life. sure, a self-inflicted death, to survivors, is more 'tragic', but it's nothing our ancestors haven't dealt with. we are a reasonably resilient species.

Thanks for your considered response, you're right "accepting" perhaps wasn't the wording. I think "relieved acceptance" is where i want the idea to sit.

Let me see if I can explain succinctly. Once the worst possible thing has happened (ctb), fear of it can no longer rule your loved ones lives, therefore surely there is a sense of relief/acceptance/okay-ness. The fear of the thing, being worse than the thing itself.
Not that anyone would ever admit it, but surely. That's my logic.

Oh I think I see what you mean now. Yeah in that case, if you are openly battling with suicidal tendencies for so long, have had many attempts, and your loved ones always kind of have to fear and worry about that possibility in the back of their minds... then logically I do think that there would be some sense of relief or acceptance for them eventually in knowing 1) you're no longer suffering and 2) they don't have to actively fear losing you anymore (when/how it'll happen, being on edge when you don't reply to a text for a while, etc etc). Of course, it's not a sure thing since you can't control anyone's reactions, but I do think it makes sense.
