Someone on here said you need constant flow, but in the Peaceful Pill Handbook it said flow that is falling is "precisely" what is needed. Which is correct? I was just going to use a 40 cu ft nitrogen cylinder, set the flow to 20 lpm and just go for it.

Yes you need a constant flow or else what will flush out the CO2 you exhale from the bag? You need a steady supply of inert gas to breathe in until you pass away.

Why does the PPH says something different? Will setting the regulator to the correct flow give me the constant flow that I need, or is there something else I need to do?

If you have a large enough tank and a small enough enclosed space, no. Otherwise, very much yes.

The PPeH doesn't say different. The PPeH thing you're referring to is talking about simple helium cylinders which hardly anyone uses anymore because they are mixed with a lot of oxygen. In a tank like that there is no regulator so the pressure is proportional to the volume of gas in the cylinder. The more gas is used the less pressure in the tank, since it doesn't have a regulator there's no way to set it. If you use a nitrogen tank and a regulator with a litres per minute flow meter you can set it to however many litres a minute you want.

Yes you need a regulator, and it will need to have the correct fittings for cylinder of gas you're using. This method is notoriously complex and expensive.

I wouldn't say it's that complex. I thought it was really complex too and intimidating but once I had all the parts and watched a couple of youtube videos it seemed pretty straightforward, just a bit fiddly. The only reason I haven't experimented more with it is that I'm afraid of the tank itself lol. Coz if you drop it or it punctures or whatever it becomes a rocket that can go through conrete walls. I'm currently waiting for a mini nitrogen tank to be delivered so I can experiment :)

@lostautist means yes, if you're using an exit bag you must have a steady flow of gas. If you had a space like a small room you could fill up completely with nitrogen then no, you wouldn't. I assume you're not filling up a room full of nitrogen? So yes, you must have a steady flow of gas or else it will not work.

^this. I shouldn't have even mentioned confined space, I didn't mean to cause confusion.
