Death is an event, not an entity. An event after which some hope to meet some kind of higher or supernatural being (God, Grim Reaper, etc. you name it), some hope for their cycle to continue via reincarnation and some hope that this is true end and perfect nothingness afterwards.

I do think the consciousness just gets recycled in a manner similar to our bodies, with the laws of universe and not some entities responsible that. I consider myself an atheist who is not materialist, so do not believe in personified Death or any other entities, although as you see I do make certain metaphysical assertions (that others may think as cheating around atheism).
