whenever i drink pepsi, which i try to limit to a few times a month, i get happy as if i took an SSRI which i never tried, but i would imagine.
i know there's many problems with real SSRI's... thats why i always declined them.
but my point is: i almost feel like pepsi adds some kinda "drug" if you will.
it would obviously be good for business to have your product make people happy.

or is it simply only bc i like pepsi so much, that it naturally makes me happy lol?

Doubt they put anti-depressants, but sugar does release dopamine which makes you happy, and the amount of sugar in soft drinks is crazy, so...

You get a similar effect if you eat a load of chocolate too. Although my teeth start to ache if I eat a lot of chocolate nowadays so idk.

No wonder I'm addicted...

There used to be cocaine in the original Coca Cola but, I imagine they would have to declare it in the ingredients if they snuck anything into Pepsi. I'm a big Pepsi fan too, even though I'm sure it's terrible for us.

definitely not, but it'd be funny if they did
in reality it's the sugar + caffeine in it which makes your brain release dopamine

Pepsi contains both caffeine and sugar, which have been shown in many many many studies to cause the brain to release dopamine, which makes you happy. Some people have the same reaction to coffee, others chocolate. If you go further, it's heroin, cocaine, gambling, and porn. The brain craves what makes it feel good.

But seriously dude, just because you like something doesn't mean there is a conspiracy theory and drugs in the water.

No way Pepsico would put any kind of drug like that in their drink and have the price of it be as low as it is... IF they actually put a drug like that in there, you can bet it would be more expensive to drink and people would be happy to pay it.

Could be psychological... could be the sugar rush... could be caffeine. Hard to say. I like sodas, particularly with meals... but they do nothing for me stimulation-wise.

That would be nice... Much cheaper than the 20ml bottle of Lexapro for €40-, every two weeks.

This makes me have an idea to stash some canned drink like Pepsi or Coca Cola or Sprite in my wardrobe, so I have access to them energy drink whenever I feel demotivated

Ah, see, it's a giveaway that you've never taken an SSRI if you think "I get happy as if I took an SSRI" 😁 I'd say Pepsi is much more effective for a quick boost of happiness, because SSRIs don't cause a release of serotonin (or dopamine, etc.)
