I've been suicidal for the past 10 years. The only reason I was able to cling on for as long as I have is because of places like these where you can talk openly and without judgement.

Mainstream media, sadly, just wants to kick up as much of A fuss as they can. It's not about accurately reporting the news anymore. It's about clicks and views.

Why is it vilified to be pro suicide anyway?

They conduct a witch hunt because they cannot handle the fact that vast amounts of people wish to exit their shitty society.
Actually that's not right. It's not shitty, it's evil.
They ought to concentrate on why people want to leave. But they don't, cos they don't give a shit.

I mean, to be honest, what's the difference between pro-choice and pro-suicide here, exactly? Aren't pro-choice (abortion) people considered pro-abortion at the end of the day? They don't necessarily encourage it but they certainly support people's choice to have abortions and support legalization of abortion. Isn't it the same here with suicide? Why are we trying to pretend like we're not pro-suicide?

As an extreme example, if you condoned people committing murder, even if it was only when it's justified circumstantially, aren't you just pro-murder at the end of the day? Circumstances pushing someone to suicide being the equivalent here of course. And hell, we literally help provide the means to do it with various resources. If you're helping people do murder you're pro-murder lol.

I frequented the forum a few years ago while in a very deep depression. It was the only place I felt I could talk about how I felt without being judged or handed platitudes. Even though I stopped posting when I eventually started to feel better, I still found myself thinking about some of the members I'd interacted with or had been affected by in some way. I don't remember seeing anyone encouraging someone to ctb.

Being suicidal is incredibly isolating. Telling people invites repercussions, and the sad truth is that for many people those repercussions won't lead to an It's a Wonderful Life kind of ending. For some people, suicidal feelings never truly leave them. I have an enduring mental illness and on top of that, I've been quite unlucky in life. When I'm well, I have no more hope than I do when I'm depressed - I simply function better because I'm in less psychological pain. This is pretty much the only place where I feel I can be honest about that.

I appreciate some people think the site shouldn't exist, but at least don't make it out to be something it isn't.
