My method apparently. Didn't think it would get this far but in retrospect it's obvious.

I feel close. Getting heart palpitations a lot more often these days.

I'm sorry, Makko Witch.

Couldn't get another vacation week? I don't know how vacation works in UK.

Here we get 30 days off. Can be an entire month or we can split into 15 days at any months of our choosing.

Wow.. I know most people here a suicidal (myself included) but if I were to die, I'd sure not let the reason being this system squeezing the last bit of life out of me to discard and replace me in an instant. People actually do die from being overworked and there are also negative consequences from poor life balance/sleep deprivation which could be influencing your desire to ctb. Do you think you'll try and get a handle on things or just keep going as is? It's probably leading to poor heart health too. I hope you find more work-life balance Makko

I have like 100 saved vacation days so that 's not the problem. A vacation isn't going to help. To properly get down my burnout levels I'd have to sign off work for like 2 years where I do nothing but roll in bed. Obviously I'm not going to do that.

The system was never at fault. The system is built by volunteers. Everyone here is here voluntarily. Sometimes they die voluntarily. I posted a thread about a former colleague some time ago but can't find it now.

I can't understand how someone who is suicidal can even hold a job....any job. I don't want to leave my apartment unless I have to and I don't want to talk to or see anybody. It's too much effort. I just want to die.

This isn't brought up or discussed here often but there are two different kinds of suicidal. Those who are depressed, and those who are not. It hits quite differently.

Because the prospect of starving to death on the street overrides all other thoughts. Like a primal instinct to survive at all costs that takes over. Most of us are not holding down good careers. Just barely holding on month to month with the ever looming threat of homelessness.

Yes of course, I understand the thought of homelessness is terrifying. I think about it too. I live alone and have to pay lots of bills each month.

Nope. I work a lot too. It's very annoying and I feel drained every single day to the point I can't even watch a show/movie without thinking about what to do the next day at work. I also don't have any holiday days "saved" as they usually "expire" after a year and I have so much stuff to do I can't take them for longer than a week at a time a year (if at all). The only holidays I have are whenever I'm sick. So I'm usually looking forward to that - :(

Disclaimer that I'm not a medical expert though fairly well informed: For better or for worse, I get a lot of palpitations and cardiac weirdities, definitely associated with work. Had nearly an hour last night where I was getting a PVC ("skipping a beat") nearly every three beats after another 14h day and far too much caffeine. [Un]fortunately, the cardiologist says PVCs are actually very common and only very rarely more dangerous, so while the really big ones can be distressing, I don't cast too much hope etc on them. Possibly more likely, overwork and stress will wear down the immune system to compromise us in other ways though?

The human body is excellent at adapting to work schedule because no matter how much the person over work themselves they would take atleast some hours or so break for rest or sleeping that much time is enough for brain to do it's stuff, so it's hard to say whether a method like this may work or not maybe it will reduce a person average lifespan the chances of success at best are random also would require a lot faith and stress endurance to even go through it perhaps even years.

it's a surprisingly good idea. I mean, It'd be hard to die from work, but it's definitely possible to kill one's soul. Isn't it the same as dying physically? Basically, selling one's soul for money. It's like you commit suicide but you get to stay here ans watch things go down in more and more flames and you even contribute.

anyway. apparently, there is supposedly a point where a job gets "easier" and things that were difficult become automatic and easy (mastering a skill). Would you say you're oast this point? Because past this point (of mastery), your job is supposed to become easy.

I'm asking because I've been rolling in my bed for the last 2 years and I forgot what work felt like.

Late to this conversation (found by searching "overwork") and I'm with ya on the death by overwork. Stop work -> family becomes homeless. Keep work -> constant non-stop SI. At least if I kill myself they get the life insurance (I have a very good policy that covers suicide)
