Hi!

[English isn't my mother tongue so please excuse me in advance for possible language incorrections.]

I'm starting to get really desperate so I've been thinking about CTB by train. CTT - catch the train so to speak :)

I already know that many of you members are totally against the method of rail suicide. So I don't want to hear your opinions about that...

So to my questions. The most effective way is probably to be laying on the track with the throat and with the bones outwards the track. Then I would probably be decapitated. Am I right? But I think it would be really tough to be laying and waiting for the train to come.
I also think it would be really hard if I just lay my body down in between the track then I will probably get "shaved" by the train and not dead directly. Not a good choice either.

I also think it would be really tough to just stand up and wait for the train to come.

So for me the best option would probably be to run just before the train is coming and try to jump up a bit so I wouldn't come under the train. Will I bump away on the train, being totally slashed or will I be sucked in under the train? The commuter train is coming in around 60 mp/h 100km/h I think. Will it be an instant death you think?

a trains engine weighs around 400,000 lbs. In contrast, that's the equivalent of over 100 adult hippos. So if a person was to step in front of a commuter train, carrying a dozen passenger cars at least I'd think, I would imagine it would be nearly impossible to live through that. The impact from 2 million pounds hitting someone at 60 mph would kill a person instantly.

Wear headphones, play your fav song. Walk onto the tracks facing the opposite way of the train so you can't see it. You will feel the vibration but you won't know when it'll hit. I did not make this up, happened over 20 years ago to a friend. Was on the roof of his job (smoking) and saw a guy walking on the tracks. He YELLED to get his attention then realized what was going on .... Anyways, big cloud of red mist went everywhere. Ruined everyone's day.

Best bet would be to lie in wait and then jump out from a bushy area of concealment when the train is very close. Placing your neck on the track would certainly result in a quick, albeit gruesome, death.

I'm guessing you'd really need to be sure of a direct, head on impact, as if you were in any way in motion it would be possible for you to be struck more of a glancing blow and be flung clear, suffering multiple fractures or loss of limbs.
So I'd feel that you'd ideally be standing stationary in front of the loco when it hits, assuming it doesn't have any type of cowcatcher or protective frame at the front.
If you were lying on the track with your head on the rails I'm not sure if it may be easier for you to lie facing away from the approaching loco so that you'd just hear the sound of its approach without the terrifying sight.

Perhaps you could tie your wrists and/or legs to some form of weight to aid against the unknown chance of being sent flying out of the way.

my main concern re: this post would be other people waiting for the train could physically stop you.

this isn't about traumatizing people, I read what you wrote. I mean, is there a spot to hide so as to not get tackled or stopped in some other way? if you mess up the timing you'll be in a far worse position than right now.

eta: i'm aware there are a ton of rail ctbs that we have evidence of. but those sites don't post failures, as far as I understand them.

@opheliaoveragain Yes there are a lots of spots where I can jump without being stopped. My biggest fear is to survive an attempt, that would be really gruesome.
