No judgement pls. Wondering what I'd need to know about taking a chainsaw to my neck & just beheading myself.

Gonna be a lot of si and it's really noisy so if you have any issue with noise probably not the best choice. Also they're heavier than they look and awkward. I would practice exactly what movements you'd use (without it running) because you could do serious non lethal injuries if you lose control. Like scalp yourself if it gets caught in your hair or take off your face.

Generally bad idea, explained in above thread. Remember to use the search functionality. There's a wealth of information already on this site that can answer many questions.

I do use search but it's also okay to see if anyone has anything else to say that maybe hasn't been covered

Yeah but there's really only so much that can be said about chopping your head off with a chainsaw that hasn't already been said.

Okay well the thread you linked they were asking about cutting with it so it's different.

Not certain you've actually read the thread if you think that. Hey, so this is kinda going nowhere. I was just trying to make a suggestion that would help you, not make a personal attack. Gonna check out. Best of luck.

This sounds like an accident waiting to turn a body into a crippled nightmare. They're designed to cut wood not slice through flesh. But I suppose if you could mount the chainsaw on something, because it would be hard to hold and manipulate to the desired location, and replace the chain with some sort of surgical scalpel cutting blade (which doesn't exist), it could work. But if you've gone through that much trouble, may as well get some N.

Yeah, I don't think this is gonna work out like you seem to want it to. I have used chainsaws all my life -- Flyover state plus "spring like weather" squared by a ton of old growth trees in my neighborhood equals SOMEBODY has to cut it up and stack it by the curb so "big trash" can come get it.

Chainsaws are a lot of things but "easy" to use for purposes outside the normal intent, especially if that "purpose" requires a bit of dexterity (like cutting your head off) can't really be said to be feasible.

Bottom line is unless you have the upper body strength and arm muscles of a lumberjack you might accidentally kill yourself, but you are gonna make a hell of a mess trying to do it. And it is not gonna be quick. Or "pain-free".

I kinda feel like you may need to stop and evaluate EXACTLY what you are wanting to accomplish here. 🤷🏻🤷🏻

i think it would be more effective if you find a way to have it running and trip on it landing perfectly on your neck, being drunk and wearing a noise cancellation device would probably help

I definitely did not have any expectations of it being quick or pain free. I am just looking for certainty. But seems I won't be strong enough ty for input

Jane, cmon.no judgement but seriously it's not the way to go.

To be honest, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. There was that one story I recall about a guy who didn't want to vacate his house and killed himself with a chainsaw to make a statement.

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Personally I'm all about choice. If you choose to do this then so be it. All I'm saying is do it with the knowledge of what can go wrong so you can avoid it. People die by chainsaw every year around me. However honestly they usually bleed out in the woods because they cut a major artery and don't have help. It's up to you if that's a chance you're willing to take. ❤️‍🩹

What if I used it on both my femoral arteries

I understand you're thinking but I'm just letting you know the body's reaction to extreme pain doesn't always match the brains desire. Meaning you may not physically be able to do both. But maybe you will. It would definitely make it faster if you could get both.

They are designed to be operated from one end with the cutting on the other end.
You might give yourself a terrible cut and die, but it will not be an easy way to go.
Put you energy into a better method.
