Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I live in North Brisbane and I've been off-line for quite awhile
Somehow the government is trying to block us here in Australia from accessing sanction suicide. I've been spending a lot of time with my family lately just enjoying their company and being with them. I've made everything in order, my will is in order.

For months, I've been telling my Case Manager and my psychiatrist through the public health system that I'm not okay. They tell me to go on a holiday and that being in hospital is not what I need.

I've reached a point in my life where I'm settled with leaving. I can't live with this pain forever always being anxious always being depressed always feeling like the world is looking down on me.

I have begged the Hospital to help. I've told them so many times my med's are not working. I don't feel well but they just disregard my letters. Emails phone calls so now I'm just gonna say nothing and just fade away.

I have so many other medical issues that are not being addressed. I'm in pain every single day and they just don't care.

So maybe if I take myself out of the equation, everyone will be better off without me
Advice, I won't feel like a failure everyday, I will be gone away from all the pain

Goodnight Brisbane

Feel like tonight I might take rope and take an overdose before jumping off the bridge, rope around neck and with a overdose of medication

Are they allowed to refuse involuntary hospitalization if you go to an emergency room and say you are going to end your life immediately if you aren't hospitalized?

I don't actually know the answer.

I know that psychiatrists and mental health workers sometimes do the opposite of what a patient wants then to do, for whatever reason. But I'm not sure an Emergency Room would even have discretion to refuse involuntary care if someone said "If I don't receive involuntary care, I am going to hang myself."

I personally think if you went to an ER and reported this to a doctor, it would be unlikely to not result in involuntary care or a voluntary admission.

AI said you could call for an ambulance to get to an ER:
There is no reliable public statistic that gives a percentage for this exact scenario, so I can't honestly say "X%." The best answer is:

It is quite possible for someone to say, "I plan to hang myself tonight," and still not receive a voluntary inpatient bed—but it would be less likely for the ED to simply treat the disclosure as routine.

Queensland Health's guidance says that even a high suicide-risk classification does not automatically mean inpatient admission. Clinicians consider whether the risk can be managed safely outside hospital, the person's capacity to participate in safety planning, available supports, access to means, previous attempts, the immediacy and lethality of the plan, and whether a suitable bed exists. health.qld.gov.au

For a person reporting a specific plan for that night, the likely sequence is:

  1. ED triage and medical/suicide-risk assessment.
  2. Mental-health assessment, often involving collateral information from the psychiatrist, case worker, or family.
  3. A decision about the safest setting.
  4. If inpatient care is judged necessary, a search for a suitable bed—possibly at another hospital.
The outcome could be voluntary admission, a period of observation while a bed is sought, transfer to another hospital, intensive crisis/community treatment, or discharge with a safety plan. A person can be at serious risk without receiving a voluntary bed, especially if no suitable bed is available or clinicians believe another setting is safe enough.

So: a specific "tonight" hanging plan would substantially strengthen the case for urgent intervention and possibly admission, but it still does not guarantee a voluntary inpatient bed. If this describes a current person, they should go to an ED or call 000 and state the plan, timeframe, access to means, and inability to stay safe. Queensland Health directs people needing immediate help to 000 or the nearest ED.

I'm pro-choice and believe people should be able to choose to not live, but it also sounds like your medications aren't working, you want inpatient care, your treatment team doesn't understand how bad the situation is, and you don't have the persuasion skills to change their mind. An ER visit might get you the inpatient care and med change you want?

I think it depends on the severity of what you've done in the past. I know for some people it won't work because they just threaten it but like with me I've gone through with it many times and they know that I'm serious about my plans so normally when I tell them I need an admission, they do it.

no
you go to the one that is in your area - or go private

the whole system is cactus - no one cares - the professionals get richer while everyone gets screwed over
