Zanexx is the only confirmed successful charcoal+tent case i've read here. They entered the tent with the charcoal and waited for the CO to gradually build up. A lot of people recommend leaving the charcoal in the tent for 30 mins first and then entering the tent and passing out quickly.

I'm planning to copy Zanexx and enter with the charcoal. I think it may give a better chance of success. It replicates how accidental CO deaths occur, where people die in their sleep due to a CO leak.

It obviously sounds nicer to let the CO build up to a high level, get in the tent and pass out after a few breaths. But, i think perhaps passing out quickly and going into shallow breathing maybe is less effective. Staying awake and breathing more deeply for longer, as the CO gradually accumulates, is a better option?

My anxiety about entering with the charcoal is that i have congenital heart disease and restrictive lung disease due to marfan syndrome. Zanexx's last message mentioned being short of breath, and i'm worried i could go into respiratory arrest and still be concious. I know the end result would be the same, but i just would much prefer to lose conciousness first. Getting into the tent with high CO levels, seems to ensure losing conciousness quickly.

Any opinions on this are appreciated.

CO is also my method, maybe in a tent or small room. I thought about exactly the same thing - let CO build up first, or go inside the tent/room together with the charcoal. I would say it's better to go inside together with the charcoal bc then there's still enough time to close and seal the zipper. I'd be concerned that CO levels will drop too much if I open the tent after 30 minutes to crawl inside.

In such a small environment like a tent, the concentration is going to build up so fast that it isn't going to make much difference.

As long as they're not smoking I would probably get in with the coals too. It might be less comfortable but in the end you're getting more CO

I know it's only a sample size of one, but Zanexx was successful, so i'm inclined to copy their method as closely as possible. The only changes i'm planning are to use 4kg charcoal, and wait less than 90mins for it to cool down, as Zanexx did it in August when it was warmer and needed longer to cool. I think in winter 60 mins might be enough.

The worry i have is suffering at the lower ppm levels, things like headaches, nausea, seizures, and my worst fear - respiratory arrest whilst still concious. Zanexx's last message mentioned being short of breath and sensing the CO in the air. I hope they peacefully went to sleep shortly after that message. I'm pretty sure that's what happens with most of the accidental CO deaths. I'm just very anxious, and since i discovered respiratory arrest whilst still being concious, i've been worrying about it, with my heart disease & restrictive lung disease possibly increasing the chances.

The more i think about it, maybe getting in 30 mins after the CO, taking lots of deep breaths, passing out quickly, is the better option. Sorry if this is annoying - i've always been very neurotic.

To blunt my stress levels and CO symptoms, i will be entering my chamber sleep deprived, drunk and breathing in nitrous oxide.
