Hi all. BF and I are planning to CTB soon and we're trying to research a well suited method. We're both in Canada but have passports and I also have an Indian Status card (not sure if that's worth mentioning, but it has perks for being a resident of Canada and also traveling/working in the USA). We've been contemplating the carbon monoxide method with our car, but it's a 2013 so we'd have to figure out how to remove the filter in it, or even just buying a super old shitty car to do it in. I thought about maybe being able to order a gun in the USA and have it shipped somewhere where it's legally accepted (? This is such a stupid reference, but I read that's how the Robb Elementary School shooter obtained his gun.) We wouldn't cross the border back to Canada so that wouldn't be an issue. Is this at all a practical method for us to look more into or should we stick to the carbon monoxide method? Thank ya in advance.

Hi. Canadian here. Lived/worked in USA for a few years as well. Obtaining this item in USA is extremely easy. There's literally more guns in USA than humans. This is a proven, researched fact. And there's over 330 Million people there. If you just went on a short trip to any big city, and did a little research, you'd get one with little problem. And if you know any America resident, it's even way easier! The number of handguns I encountered while living there was mind blowing. Many just laying around in their house or vehicle, loaded, with no trigger lock. Anyway, getting it back to Canada is the very difficult part. Obviously getting caught with it at border entry would be a serious criminal offense. If I were to do it, I'd personally mail it by a private parcel delivery company, like FedEx/UPS. And more so, I'd buy one that can easily be taken apart in multiple pieces and reassembled. Then I'd mail each piece separately, and use different companies for different parts. Even if they somehow intercepted it, and somehow charged you with importing a specific piece, it would never stick to anything in court. All hypothetical of course. Not suggesting you try it. Just what I'd hypothetically do, if I was to try it, which I'm not lol. Also, keep in mind that CDN/USA is the longest unprotected, non-fenced, border in the entire world. Many items and people cross very easily and undetected at a HUGE number of poorly monitored points, from coast to coast. Personally, I think there are way more legally obtainable, probably cheaper, ways to exit, that aren't as complicated or risk jail time if caught with that particular item. Mind you, I've often though jail would be successful as well, as there's a couple ways to guarantee your death inside. Not a pleasant way to go, but certainly very reliable and extremely difficult to back out of. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

No I can't see ordering a gun and shipping it to Canada as a workable plan. You'd have an easier time coming across the border and getting one then ctb in the States and not risk going back, unless it matters if you ctb in Canada. I wouldn't go and just ask some person in a major city to sell you a gun, you'll probably get robbed at the very least and probably much worse.

Why not just take the gun test in Canada & get a license. It seems pretty easy and is definitely worth it.

Just pass the exam and you can get a hunting shotgun or something. Seems very easy.
