Blood testing old SN

So my packaged and new SN is not easy to get at the moment and not sure how much longer i will feel so SI free so testing the old one that i had previously used as tester and stored in an airtight container and in a dark dry cupboard.
I have no strips to hand so tested with my blood. A tip of the salt over the blood and the salt did not dissolve but it did immediately turn blood brown and after a minute the blood went thick and not runny but not jelly like either.
I may just have to hope this means it ok enough as need to do it whilst settled in mind and emotions to go ahead and not wait til i get my other SN from its place!!
I really hope its strong enough!!!!!

The blood looks good, how old is your sn?
the blood is not very safe, but that's better than anything else. You can try the strips, they are more reliable

What strips are best please?? Too scared to just use. Its near a year old open but stored correctly but......
If i wait to get new stuff i have i may get SI as this is a need not totally a want to ctb.

Sounds like it's still working for you. So it's all good. Never pay too much attention to expiry dates, they have to be there for legal purposes rather than functional ones.
