It would seem the body itself has a survival instinct. The following is from The Selfish Ape, a 2019 book by biologist Nicholas Money.

"A Spanish study of fresh cadavers found that genes encoding the formation of heart muscle remained active, along with the protective genes that control inflammation. It seems that the body responds to the drop in oxygen levels by trying to resuscitate the heart. This interpretation is supported by the post-mortem expression of another set of genes that shape the heart in the developing embryo. These genes are turned off once we escape the waters of the womb, and their reactivation after cardiac arrest shows that the body reaches deep into its toolkit to get going again."

Yeah I think that's maybe why partial didn't work for me. The heart really fights, even after you black out

Crap... My plan... Are you the one who tried 25 times? What will you do now?

I know that the primal brain has a different opinion about survival than my traumatised emotional brain... And every cell is its own oerson struggling to survive in the collective... But that article was cool. But an hindrance... It explains why people ressurect themselves after cpr failed? Or was that just fiction?

I don't think that was me, but I have actually tried about that many times lol. Well, I should be getting SN soon, plus there's Pegasos, and if all else fails, beachy head cliffs

Some people also say when the brain lacks oxygen there is often an euphoric feeling like reported in near death experiences. Maybe survival instinct first, if it fails, then euphoria kicks in.

You tried partial hanging almost 25 times too!? Is it worthless? Or you aborted? I tried twice but aborted, to test, does it counts as an attempt? I was hoping to die by accident when I tested, to trick SI. I quit when I almost slept now my SI is scared to sleep. He's onto me.

What is pegasos?

I don't know but I suffer from severe weakness because of my disease and when I am cycling too fast or I have I don't really remember because I also have symptoms of bad memory but I have felt one days when I felt so euphoric and sleepy I have never used sleeping pills not talking about the mental support I have got or anything but I can say once body gets weak from asphyxiation or extreme manual labour or disease I don't know but it hit so hard I have even like almost passed out or got some kinda of shock I started to collapse that kind of feeling I can't say 100% why but you can assume when you are tired maybe when the cells are giving up and not getting the oxygen the stimulus or reactions already slow down so maybe something like that.

Yes, there are probably other ways of accessing the altered states of consciousness: meditation, psychedelic drugs, very focused doing something, like sport (flow state). It seems when the default mode network in the brain (which is associated with self identify and depression) is suppressed, the normally unconscious parts of our experience become accessible. This is probably why people feel euphoric, enlightened, different from usual.

I know the story oft the selfish brain not of the selfish heart. From this respect hanging is so effective as it attacks directly the brain. In this case brain death happens before cardiac death what is good because you are only erased and really dead when there is no activity in your brain.

Concerning hanging full suspension helps to outwit the animalistic survival instinct.

I struggled to find the sweet spot and aborted. I think my neck is too muscly for it to be comfortable. Pegasos is an assisted dying clinic in Switzerland.
