what types of trees are pretty sturdy for hanging?

i don't know about the tree type, but if you end up doing it kick the chair as far as possible because your urge to get back on the chair will overpower you. I've done it and could quite complete the act, it's scary even if you really want to die.

Its not about the type. Its about the thickness of the branches and how stable they are.

Someone might say and oak tree, but oak trees can have thin branches than can easily snap. Same with any type of tree. Its not about the type.

Go around trying them when no one's around by holding onto a good branch and testing it with your full weight. I used to do this but not testing to CTB, i used them to stretch before and after a run lol.

Any branch 5-6'' thick should do for someone up to 200lb.
Avoid balsa and cherry trees
