Hey all,

I'm new here but I've been lurking for a while on and off. Just wanted to say that wow were people right about the chaplains at beachy head. This isn't advice or anything, just a bit about my story. I was so determined in August and reached my limit with life and the shit show that it is. I had a whole back story ready for why I was there and kept calm and smiled. Even that didn't fool them. Police were called and it was one expensive failure. Also did end up getting sectioned and a very brief inpatient admission. Don't do it kids.

Surely you just say that you are there for the view? How can they section you with no clear signs of suicidal intent?

I did, "just here to see the view, beautiful sunny day, take some pics" I said I was a photography student from Brighton etc. Maybe too elaborate. But they ask you so many questions that you end up not being able to answer them. They catch you out. Anyway I don't want to say too much and it be seen as encouragement, I just couldn't believe how on it they are and how many lengths they go to. Plus they watch you for ages from afar. :-/

I'm sorry you had to go through this. We have the right to take our lives at a time of our choosing, it is our decision and nobody else should have any say in this. It is cruel how the society expects us to suffer for decades. I would never get the courage anyway for jumping though. I wish you the best.

Thanks, yeah I agree with you. Every day is unbearable suffering that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. But society expects us to carry on. I never thought I would but there were a few reasons at the time. I'm going with a different method now. Soon. Never beachy head again that's for sure.

Makes me angry reading your post. I am sorry that happened to you…
I just can't understand those people, we have the right to decide when we exist this world, who are they to stop us?! Not to mention they sectioned you. It must be awful going through that experience. They shouldn't harass people like that

Did you drive it there or use the train?

A couple of reports say it was easy to go there without being noticed & a couple others say they get caught straightaway.

The amount of failed suicide attempts far outweigh the successful ones. The media make it out like it's a huge problem.

They're not going to physically stop you by force, you just have to have the will power to avoid them, if possible. If not continue the mission without caring. Reason you stopped and surrendered yourself to police is because you have doubts.

Thank you, I feel the same. Yeah I was pretty out of it at this point but police put me on a 136 then next day section 2. Thankfully I didn't have to stay inpatient long.

I got the train. The taxi wasn't an issue either when I got to Eastbourne but they have brought in even tighter restrictions now. E.g. any person visiting by themselves they'll alert police. And yeah they do.

No the chaplains don't but my god do they harass you. I hear what you're saying and it sounds simple. But they followed me, then more appear, they call the police. The police arrive and there's 2 then 4 then 10 of them there. 15 people watching me. I kept trying but couldn't do it infront of all those people. I felt too guilty. With all the stuff they say to you as well. And the guilt tripping. And they don't stop talking. So much noise. For me personally in that situation it just wasn't going to happen. And then I almost did die because I slipped and once they eventually managed to get me up over the edge they were physical and escorted me to their car. It was a horrible ordeal. For them too. Plus I was taking certain things to fight SI and waiting for them then to kick in. If I'd just run and jumped it would have been fine.

It was I was literally screaming at them to let go. They almost dislocated my shoulder trying to pull me up but obviously I know they were doing their best to save me and help. I didn't want anyone else to get hurt . thank you
