They aren't saying the cause of death. From what I understand, they don't state when it's a suicide because they don't want to encourage others (South Korea has such a bad suicide problem)

Whenever a famous person commits suicide, I just think to myself: if that person (who is usually attractive and talented) can't stick around, why should I? Of course, no-one really cares when a member of the public CTBs.

And this person wasn't even famous for something where you could say "man the rock star/movie star/whatever life is shallow and unfulfilling." She used her depression as inspiration to help tons of people.

depends on the method, how quickly she was found etc.

Yes it's likely. In addition to what OP said about Korea having a suicide problem, my wife (Korean) tells me commenters have been saying (so not an official source) that when you've been depressed as long as she has that it's "death from depression" rather than suicide. She may have worked out the press release with her publisher through delayed message.

Tteokbokki is great though, rose tteokbokki was one of the best things I've had all year
