You know that feeling when you tell yourself something negative all the time, but when someone else says it about you, it just hurts like hell?

Someone i know told me yesterday: "Your suicide attempts were for attention, you dont even know what it means to want to kill yourself, you practically do everything for attention, you live only for attention"
Then i jumped out of the driving car(it was stopping anyway)
And yea, here i am, i havent been this suicidal for a long time. How can i overcome my jumping SI?

I always find that so cruel when they say that to suicidal people. I'm sorry that happened.

First of all I sometimes wonder why people say that. I mean so what if a part of the reason someone is trying to CBT is for attention? What is inherently wrong with needing attention? In my case I used to feel humiliated because I do feel I can come off as an attention seeker at times, but I guess one of the main reasons I usually want to CBT is because of loneliness and lack of love, which would mean of course there's going to be times we're I seek attention. Sometimes talking about suicide to others is a sort of call for help and needing attention, I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

It's terrible they told you that. Also I think people who are not suicidal should learn to never test a suicidal person, not sure why some people do this. It's happened to me too and it makes me want to CBT times 50 whenever people question me like this.

It's fine if you haven't CBT, you don't have to prove to anyone anything. Much less prove to anyone your validity of your wanting to CBT, that is a personal matter. It's fine if a part of you seeks attention, it's fine if you are not seeking attention, and then very wrong they judged you.

Sounds like you are interacting with a deadly individual who is using psychological tricks to push you over the edge.

Generally speaking, attention is a human need. Most people get a reasonable amount of it and don't have to think about it. Some have an extra appetite because something internal is missing.

When vulnerable, be careful who you interact with.

Most of my suicidal attempts have been through meds too. To this day I feel like a weakling/ coward because of it. Honestly these are the core of my thoughts. I feel like that too because the SN just arrived today and it's in my closet.

Not sure what to say since I have those thoughts too. All I can say is that person you are talking with is terrible. Straight up awful when people verbalize that.

This is why I don't reach out for help because people are quick to deem it as "attention seeking" in a bad way. Some even view it as childish and tell us to Grow up. Feels so invalidating and ashamed for having these feelings.

Some people are just so awful and insensitive. In my opinion, it is best to stay away from people like that. I'm sorry that you are suffering so much. I feel like many people are able to overcome the SI when the pain of living gets to be unbearable and they get desperate, they cannot take anymore of this life. Jumping sounds like a terrifying way to go in my opinion, I have a fear of heights and I know that I could never ctb that way. I wish you the best in whatever happens.
