While I am not endorsing this perspective personally nor am I advocating for it, I can relate to it. This because I can understand WHY there are people (both on and off SaSu) who share this kind of reasoning or point of view. With that said, this is why there are some people who do end up spitefully doing so.
Example 1:
The exoneree (person whom was freed from prison (exonerated), usually one who was wrongfully incarcerated) whom lost most of their life sitting in prison or incarcerated and when somehow against almost all odds, they are released, but not after losing decades (20-30+ years maybe more) of their chronological life (in terms of years and actual, literal TIME itself along with the milestones and experiences had they been a free human being), there is no recovery or making back of the lost times along with an weaker body, lesser health (mentally and physically) especially once they are 'free' but in their senior or late mid life (late 50's or even 60's) and whatever is left of their sentient expectancy (life expectancy), no amount of money or apologizes, token gestures will ever replace the loss. Yet society and people do not respect said person to go.
Example 2:
The late party goer who ends up with scraps or remains (and then gets told it's better than nothing and be grateful, or any aforementioned platitude just to shut them down). So the unfortunate party goer just misses out and was told to 'get over it' and make the most out of the present and future (essentially denying their experience, invalidating and gaslighting them).
There are many more other cases too with similar albeit different examples, but the main common theme is still more/less the same: The people who missed out the best (subjective - but 'best' to whatever the person values and each person is different and unique in their criterion) experiences who cannot ever get it, no longer feels that it is worth to accept the paltry remains, residual lesser experiences, and such, should NOT have to endure and continue unwanted sentience just to appease society, or others! Nor should they accept any token commiseration from their peers or society, or even from people who personally (and subjective to only them and themselves) decided to continue to live because they wanted to! Each individual should decide that if it is not worth it to them and themselves, then they should not be threatened with incarceration, or declared unsound of mind, or relegated to that of an infant or incompetent person for simply deciding that the deal (or rather invalid, broken deal) is no longer worth the cost.
On a slightly different point, but still somewhat related, even in a perfect world (which is far, far from reality of course!), even the lack of ability to choose when, where, and how one wishes to go on one's own terms is still something that is appalling. For instance, even if say someone was a billionaire (or however rich, wealthy they may be) and never had any problems (or hardly any) in life and existence, having everything they want or need, and more, even then the lack of being able to go on one's own terms is still a torture in and of itself (mainly due to boredom - because boredom would be a torture along with pain (suffering) itself). This is because humans and living organisms often try to avoid pain and suffering (along with torture) by distracting themselves with many things and meaning itself (at least from an universe' perspective) is subjective.
In conclusion, while I don't endorse or encourage any action (whether to CTB or not to CTB), it makes sense why some people do end up doing so given their individual, personal circumstances! They are NOT incapable of rational choices or have a broken, faulty mind and unable to make decisions or understand their decision for the mere fact that they have decided to reject whatever commiseration or scrap that their situation and remaining sentience have placed them in! Society and it's peers along with said person(s) peers simply cannot and would not accept such a person making such a decision because it hurts their perspective of a just world (again with the just world fallacy)!
