It is true this story is heartbreaking. But in my opinion the media I have seen has the wrong narrative. I just got a notification from the biggest yellow press newspaper in my country. I only follow this yellow press because it is the largest one in my country and has a lot of political power.
The notification was "Archie must die" Eurpoean court allows his doctors to end his life.

I have made a short research.
Here is an English source which summarizes this case.

The boy seeminlgy took part at a TIktok challenge. He got brain damage due to lack of oxygen. He is now in coma. The chances to recover are very very low. He is now in coma for several months. I understand the pain of these parents must be unimaginable. But as the doctors say it only prolongs his death. The chances to recover are very low due to brain damage. Honestly I dislike that the media uses pictures of him in coma. In my opinion this is against his dignity.

I can personally speak about my own perspective. I am very scared that something like a life long coma would happen to me. And I think many many people only can agree to that. I think for many people the notion of experiencing something like this is a real nightmare.

This yellow press acted like the doctors would know be responsible for his death. I can understand that as a parent such a decision must be incredibly painful.

Here is a quote from the article.

"His parents are fighting a legal battle to keep Archie on life support, in which a specialist told the judge that Archie's brain-stem was significantly damaged, and that there are signs of deterioration since the earlier scans taken in mid-April.

He added that Archie's prognosis was 'very grave' and his chances of recovery were 'very low'."

Here another article with quotes.

"Doctors at the Royal London Hospital, where the boy is being treated, believe that he is brain dead and that his body will eventually collapse even if life support continues."
"However, the judge said Archie "is no longer the boy in the photograph." He added that the 12-year-old is "someone whose every bodily function is now maintained by artificial means.""

Yeah it is pretty easy to depict the doctors as murderers. And many people do that. I think it is a humanistic difficult decision but in the end I think the judges and doctors made the right one. The people who scapegoat the doctors are horrible and often ignorant people.

I think it important to protect children from such dangerous TikTok challenges. The parents also have the responsibility to control what their kids do online.

All in all it is a horrible and heartbreaking story. I think it is easier to make the right decision if one is not emotionally too involved. I am pretty scared my parents could keep me alive if something like that happened to me. For this reason I have made a patient's degree and gave my best friend the full control. He also has a health care proxy for me. I am kind of scared my parents would sue him. I can only hope my parents are too dumb for that. My parents are very ignorant people who abused me. I could see them doing this bullshit. Even though my dad admitted he is also scared as fuck about a lifelong coma. Fucking hypocrite. He also threatend me to stop giving me money in case I contact a assisted suicide organization. I think keeping me alive under such circumstances was very selfish.

What do you think about this case?
