Games Anyone up for some Pokémon Showdown battles?

There is a website called Pokemon Showdown. It's a browser based battle simulator where you can battle other people using pokemons. And since it runs in the browser, you can almost definitely play it on the same device you're using to browse this forum. Most of us have probably played a pokemon game before but if you haven't, you just need to get somewhat familiar with this type chart to get started

e.g.,
Fire is strong against Grass(2x damage) but weak against Water(1/2x damage).
Grass is strong against Water(2x damage) but weak against Fire(1/2x damage).
Water is strong against Fire(2x damage) but weak against Grass(1/2x damage).

The most common format on the site is Random Battles where you are given 6 random pokemons so you don't even need to build a team or anything and just jump right in.
I don't know if you guys would be interested in games outside of this forum so let me know if you are interested :)

I actually don't know as much about Pokémon as I should by now, but I'd love to try. I'll just be bad at it, but hey, you'll get some wins under your belt.

Awesome! And don't worry about it. I found out about the site recently as well so I am by no means an expert xD
You'll pick up things as you go and it is mostly about fun anyway.

You can hide most of the stuff from the screen by pressing the 'hide' button.

We just need right side of the screen to play the game. You can pick the format you want to play from the format selection option. Default and most common is random battle and that's the one we'll play if you are interested. After that just hit the 'Battle!' button to play the game.

My username on showdown is also IncrediblePal btw but I think you need to have an account older than 1 week to add friends.
We can still challenge each other through the 'Find a user' option below.

Just let me know when you guys are free to play. A game usually just takes less than 5 minutes.

Do I have to actually register, or is there a way to just play as a guest? Registering is so minor but is a hurdle to me

You pick a username for yourself and if it is not taken, you get to use it. But to make sure no one else uses your username, you can register your username by locking it with a password. It is first come first serve.

Spoiler: The moral of that chart is that Grounds and Steels are literally broken.

I'm mostly familiar with generation 7 and 9. But I did play some gen 4 games too recently. Gen 1 does not sound like a pleasant experience though. Maybe we can settle on something in the middle?

Haha, that's understandable. Gen 1's jank is part of its charm but it's not for everyone. I'd be happy to do Gen 9 randoms. Shall I DM you my name on showdown?
