anyone tried sertraline (zoloft)? are you full of joy, full of life and full of motivation to conquer the day now?

someone recommended to me. but the list of side effects are so long

I tried Zoloft - I felt no different. I'm on Duloxetine, it basically eliminated my anxiety - not much done in the way of defeating my depression though.
It's different for everyone though. Depending on how depressed you are, if you're all the way down, no reason not to go for it.

I started taking it in 10th grade and to be honest it really helped with my social anxiety. I remember thinking something along the lines of: "The colors are back! They're back!" But like the previous poster said, it's different for everyone.

It made it impossible for me to come, so I quit it, because I'd rather be dead than alive and impotent. The good thing that came out of it for me was that that was the experience that made me finally give up on these fucking drugs, which was liberating, and gave me the strength and conviction to strive for and win more freedom than I ever thought possible.

As the other comments said, it's a personal experience. I had no expectations when I started, but it's helping me a little with my anxiety; motivation and joy must come from somewhere else. If you're determined and can afford it, give it a try, even if you have a little patience

I would cry every single day and i would tell my my parents how much of i dissapointment i was to them.

I was still studying for the university entrance exams back then, adding even more pressure, so it didn't help.

Never again.

None of the antidepressants I've been with fill you with joy - they even out your mood so that you're not depressed. I also think my life was seriously harmed by the cocktail of medication my doctor put me on, and while they're good for some folks they're being prescribed when underlying issues - like autism - aren't fixed by them.

Gave me insomnia and when you're severely depressed you don't want to be sleeping five minutes a night.

it was helpful to me in a time of crisis where i was acutely depressed. it tamped down on the sensations of sorrow and anxiety, but also positive sensations as others here have said. If you are in a place where you cannot function due to an abundance of negative emotions then it may be useful for you. however if you're more sedate/disaffective then it might not be as useful.

I took it for 5-6 years, eventually reaching the maximum dosage. I then tapered off of it to explore alternatives. I miss it sometimes, mostly when i am hit with surges of sadness or strongly felt angst.

I tried sertraline when I was 14 and felt really good for a few days, almost instantly, but the effects wore off just as quickly, and I built a tolerance to it. My doctor kept increasing the dosage until she couldn't anymore.

I'm currently on Zoloft, max dosage. It took a while for it to start working, but I think it's really makes things slightly better, although it's hard to say for sure—I can't compare it to a parallel reality where I'm not taking it. Depression has already lowered my libido, so anorgasmia isn't that big of a problem for me, although it's frustrating. However Sertraline can unlock other sources of dopamine for you.

im not on it now, but i had a lot of stomach pain and diarrhea from it that i had to stop within two weeks

i had a friend say it gets better, but that was too much shit to deal with (literally)

zoloft literally made me so good and stable, just super happy but at a normal amount. I don't think i thought about suicide at all, i was just happy, but then again I don't really remember since my memory is shit because emotions. i just refuse to take it for no reason right now because it feels wrong and evil.

Being on Zoloft was some of the worst mental pain I felt in my entire life. Medications react differently with everyone, and I took a genetic test at one point and although I don't remember the specifics Zoloft didn't metabolize right for me.

Honestly, it's all garbage. Just pick one with the flavor you like.

I'm currently on it. Feels like it messes me up the least among SSRIs but it's a far cry from helpful. Somehow it removed my fear of spiders lol but that's it.

Was on it approximately 10 years ago - made me more suicidal. I'm on cymbalta and it is keeping the black dogs somewhat at bay - not totally but i'm still here so I can't say it is not working somewhat.

It definitely changed my life. There were sudden lows and very intense anxiety, but those are all gone now. When I was on it, it sometimes made it very hard to come, but after stopping the medication, that went back to normal. However, I believe it has persistently blunted my emotions. I can't get as excited as I used to. For example, I used to feel a rush when talking to girls I found attractive, but now I feel almost nothing. Still, I'm not sure if that's entirely sertraline's fault or if other factors are involved. It's been a little over two years since I stopped.
