Hello SS

In posting this to kinda distract myself but also want your experiences . My head all floaty is whoosh mode so hopefully this make sense.

I don't really know how to explain. But like bipolar I get the ups and downs. But they can be shorter, not so much the downs which last longer but the wacky highs can last a moment, an evening, sometimes through to next morning after waking up, but not normally longer than that.

The high really a like whoosh in the brain, I can dancing around flat, my head sometimes goes all zoned out and foggy, I find everything funny even like punching myself. Like all my SH thoughts be they intrusive thoughts or not become like a joke in this state. So the punching, I been having the idea of drinking detergent more, first it was a little in mouth and spitting out but each time came more till drink a little. I worry as I have SN in flat, and that what my 'funny thought seeem to be thinking next'. It's like brain is all whoosh, I guess like manic but it just doesn't last as long as I heard it does for something like bipolar.

Does anyone have similiar, or know what this might be? I know EUPD has shorter mood swings but I don't think it has this manic like experience and it's more emotion driven for EUPd which I don't think this is.

I often wish I could have an accurate disabgoais for my brain but don't think I will ever get it. My paychartorst is hesitant on diagnosis cos of ADHd and HRT making it complicated. He suggested my closest diagnosis was schitzpattentive but this surprised me as I don't get psychosis, so doesn't make sense to my why he thought that was closest match (although he said nothing fits perfectly).

Anyone have somthing similiar?
(Sorry for not proof reading brain to foggy for that, but actually writing this has kinda helped keep my mind in focus which is good).

Like today feel depressed most of day, but some normal moodz. Get home from office then wacky brain starts

It could cyclothymia and you're rapidly cycling between depression and hypomania?

Your ups do sound like they would meet the criteria, I get hypomania with my bipolar (type 2 so no super destructive mania). It's usually just a couple of days of elated mood, high energy, lack of needing to sleep, loss of inhibition, racing thoughts, high self-esteem. It's a bit like having a bump of cocaine that lasts days as opposed to 30 minutes or so.

I'm not one to second guess your mental health expert, I'm just a random guy online who has lived with a mental health condition most of my life.

Hey, thanks for replying to my ramble - appreciated.

Tbh from my (little) knowledge of Cyclothymia I would be surprised. As I understand with it, they don't have shorter swings but rather the symptoms themselves are mild.

I woudent say that's the case, the ups can send me bonkers, doing dumb shit until the racing thoughts cut out my brain and I'm stuck with wanting to do loads of stuff but too zoned out to do it.

I heard about ultra rapid cycling biopolar which could match I guess - but I'm not convinced it's a actual things rather what people call somthing they don't know what else it could be.

The mind is a mystery, your symptoms could be unique to you or people just get misdiagnosed.

As far as I'm aware cyclothymia is just bipolar type 2 lite. Though one of it's defining features is the ultra rapid cycling. Where as more than two cycles a year is rapid cycling for bipolar, it's "normal" for cyclothymia. The psychiatrist I saw in hospital was of the opinion that cyclothymia didn't exist and it was just to avoid the stigma of saying someone had bipolar. Before my last suicide attempt I was diagnosed with cyclothymia despite having obvious bipolar symptoms.
