Hi guys I will be taking the amitriptyline cocktail for my voyage out of here, however I can't get my hands on cimetidine. I have famotidine, but upon further reading it seems that it- along with ranitidine, won't compensate. I've been advised that flecainide, encainide and quinidine will be better alternatives but can't get those either. I've heard that sodium bicarbonate would be an ok alternative, but I'm not sure how much I should take, and if it actually will be good. Please help

Nope, sorry, but sodium bicarbonate works just the opposite of what you want.

The cimetidine is not being used to reduce acids, it is used for a very specific interaction with amitriptyline.

Basically, your body will normally eliminate the drug over time. The use of cimetidine will stop your body from eliminating the amitriptyline, thus staying in your blood longer and more likely to cause an OD. Specifically, the body produces enzyme Cytochrome P450 to eliminate the drug from your body. You want something that stops or Inhibits this action. If you search for "Cytochrome P450 inhibitors" you will find what you are looking for. Cimetidine is included in the amitriptyline cocktail because it is easy to obtain in the US as it does not require a prescription in the US.

Thank you, I'm actually in the UK, where cimetidine is harder to obtain here.

Changed method. Tired of overdoses.
