It does seem as though in America, there are more options for suicide. I doubt that I would ever be able to go through with ctb by gun if I had access to one as I would fear it going wrong in some way. It does sound like a brutal method to me.

I don't know where this is true anymore, but Walmart stopped selling guns years ago. At least in my area they did. They may still sell them at their stores in the Southern US, but not up here in my state in the North. And I live in a Republican controlled state with lax gun laws.

You have to have a license/permit to buy a gun in the United States, and depending on the state it also requires some form of background check. You're not allowed to buy a gun with certain mental illnesses in certain states so while it is easier, it's not a tried and true thing.

In the USA, at least in my state, you have to fill out a form first before buying a gun. The most important questions are:
Are you a convicted felon?
Have you ever been involuntary committed to a mental hospital?
Are you buying this gun for someone else?
A "yes" to any of these will disqualify you.

I live in a very gun ownership friendly state, so I can't speak for others.

I know what you mean- I always kind of assumed this method would be foolproof but there have been survivors. You can still miss your brain and loose a lot of your face and survive . Just a quick Google search will come up with the gruesome details... I'll spare you from linking them here.

Communist like what? China? Nicaragua? Sweden? I don't understand. Did somebody try to turn the US into a communist wasteland and then it was defended with assault rifles and handguns?
Or maybe it's something that's going to happen in the future?
The Government doesn't need to use military force to impose laws… look what happened during COVID - There was no armed resistance to masks and lockdowns anywhere. None. Zero.
Then those people stormed the United States Capitol and the only thing that happened was they got arrested.
What does communism look like in the US? Increased social services? More electric cars? Higher taxes? How would we know if we were communist?
I know that a lot of Americans are stockpiling weapons for some type of showdown with the government but I wonder what that would look like? What would prompt such a showdown?

Yeah, it's very much a "high risk, high reward" method. Personally, friendly as my shotgun looks, I've decided against it. Better to go peacefully with something like N or SN. I'd also like an open-casket funeral.

In regards to it being impossible to survive a penetrating injury from a bullet, to your brain, how about a "three-foot, 7-inch, 13½-pound iron bar"? As Phineas Gage survived one penetrating through his skull, I might mention it took "a chunk of his brain with it."

He not only survived, though without an eye, but was able to speak and walk around, though with a cane I believe.

It completely changed his personality and he then died of "epileptic seizures" nearly 12 years later. The fear of a failure that renders one unable to complete the act may deter some from a method that has a low 'chance' of ending your life.

The key to drastically increasing chances of a self inflicted GSW to the head of being successful is to make sure the projectile goes through BOTH hemispheres of the brain and/or separates the brainstem.

It depends on what state the person lives in. I live in a very strict hard to get state, most people are not allow to carry or get one. There are forms, qualifications criteria and if one suffers mental illness such as depression they disqualify in two seconds. It is not easy at all.

If it were that easy, I'd have been gone 2 years ago. Tried to buy one then, but was denied. A head shot is my preferred method, as the mess doesn't bother me much. It's generally quick and what little pain associated with it is extremely short, if done correctly.

i literally had to go through trials and tribulations just to find and order some SN in europe, and i had to make a really complicated and expensive international payment to order it, just for it to never come. i'm not even mad at the fact that it was expensive, but im more mad at the fact that i lost money for no reason. if i lived in the us, i probably would've saved up money and already bought a gun tbh.
