Simple discussion about comparing the benefits and negatives between Human/AI relationships (I don't mean romantic).
From my own personal experience I will quickly outline some key benefits for AI: Instant, supportive, knowledgeable, decent at memory depending on the model.
People: Genuine, warm, can hang out with them, possibly original depending on person.
With that said I'll list out some quick negatives.
AI: Censored. Can hallucinate answers. Often causes psychosis or make you delusional. Forgets things. Can gaslight you.
People: Backstab you. Has closet of skeletons. Possibly racist. Could suddenly lay a field of eggshells for you to cross.
This was extremely short given my time frame but I wanna hear people's thoughts on how they've faired with AI and people.
Personally, given the current loneliness epidemic I'm not surprised to see the rise of AI come so fast and roll my eyes at the anti-AI people who isn't correctly naming the real problem of AI. 'Oh, video slop. Oh data centers. Oh psychosis, blah-blah.' and other nonsense and acting as if everything was fine before the rise of AI. If they want to combat AI effectively than it doesn't start with AI but with people. They need to understand why people are using it in the first place like a drug addict to a needle's embrace. You can't just ban something and expect things to return to normal. It never works. Community needs to come back and that requires tremendous support from huge numbers of people which isn't there anymore (thanks corona). Rant is done. Back to topic.
