I want to donate my organs so I can help someone after I die but i'm scared it will damage all of my organs too much, meaning It won't be possible to donate. I want to be cremated when I go, I dont see the point in keeping organs when I won't need or use them. I had problems getting hold of the SN but I got an email today saying it will be here by 21/05, it turns out it got delayed in transit, that's why it's so late. But anyway does anybody know If I will still be able to donate??

With the research I've done regarding SN they would not be able to harvest organs. Good luck with your journey may you find peace . <3

Organ donation and harvesting happens when a person is for sure going to die without life support.. but the body is kept "artificiality alive" until the removal of organs.
In the case of suicide, ideally .. you will be dead for several hours before found hence your organs can't be harvested ..

I don't think so. If my research is correct, SN renders the blood unable to carry oxygen throughout the body and without oxygen the organs will start to fail. Unless you are found in time or call the paramedics yourself your organs will no longer be viable.

I am in the same position - I want to donate my organs but am finding it rather difficult to find a sure fire method of dying whilst staying alive long enough to allow my organs to be harvested but not too long and survive.

No way. Unless its a clean method like euthanasia done by professionals in hospital environment and the organs are immediately harvested.

Usually any sign of poisoning and they won't let you donate organs.

thanks, this is really helpful. I live opposite a hospital so I don't think it would be too long until after till I got there& yeah its really hard to find reliable methods. hope you find a way soon!

I'm considering this. I like helping people and I'm fascinated by this idea. Being useful even dead is great. This is a must-do for me.

Organs need to be harvested within about 2/3 hours of death. Therefore if someone dies in their sleep it can't be harvested. Anywaythe UK government changed the transplant rules in March so that you have to opt out now so there will be more donations in the UK so don't worry. Tbh none are probably going on right now because the government things everything has to stop due to COVID

Here is a guide as a useful rule-of-thumb:

Suicide and organ donation - a noble goal but unlikely scenario
