Failed to get an AE at my doctor's appt today... I think I said the wrong things and didn't make it sound serious enough. She seemed a little dubious and I didn't want to push. Am now checking out telehealth providers. Ideally would like to find a provider that doesn't require a live appointment but just symptom description in text, as I think I'm not a very good liar and it raised some eyebrows in-person. Eyeballing one right now that could be abbreviated as PH that seems like a major provider.
1) Are all dopamine blockers equally effective?
I know Vizzy's SN Bible recommends metoclopramide. However, because of the side effects, it seems like it can be kind of tough to get prescribed? Potential long-term effects if I survive also scare me; it's a major reason that I am trying to CTB via SN. Is prochlorperazine equally effective? It is the only other dopamine blocker AE on Vizzy's list that is FDA approved and can be prescribed in the US. I am also not sure about the dosage schedule for prochlorperazine vs. metoclopramide.
2) Will ondansetron work?
Ondansetron seems like the first-line prescription for AEs. If it won't work, I plan to tell the telehealth provider that I tried ondansetron and it didn't work. No idea how effective that will be. Hopefully they don't require documentation.
