My therapist told me that I might benefit from accelerated resolution therapy (ART). I am curious if anyone here has tried it, if so, please tell me about your experience.

My therapist recommended ART to me not exactly because of trauma, but because I have a very intense emotional reaction to just thinking about having to be in a particular situation that I've never even experienced. I've built it up so much that talking about it at all immediately launches me into an anxiety attack, so I believe she's recommended it to me so I can change these negative thoughts to positive ones without needing to speak about it.

It seems like nobody has made a thread about ART before, so maybe it is uncommon enough that not many people will have experience with it. Please tell me about your experiences if you've had any.

I have never heard of ART therapy. However, when facing anxiety about something not experienced before, I found it can be useful to arrange a brief exposure to see if the reality is as bad as the anticipation. For example. going to a social event but arranging to leave after ten minutes. One can find that what was anticipated was not as bad as what actually happened.

That's definitely some good advice but unfortunately it wouldn't be possible for my particular trouble. Thank you for your reply :)
