I have a hard thick rope and a soft thinner rope. I wonder if I should use the hard thick rope knowing it will hold my weight or make it a bit longer as a backup if the other one breaks. Any ideas?
Just use one that's strong enough to hold your weight. With multiple ropes you risk them getting tangled together which would be tedious to deal with and could reduce the effectiveness.
