Discussion Would you donate your organs if you CTB or elected euthanasia?

In 2 weeks I will start the legal process of requesting euthanasia because I can't bring myself to suicide, but I'll reconsider suicide if I'm denied. I have a choice of donating my organs. I'm on the fence about it. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the pros and/or cons. Also, if you could choose organ donation with suicide, would you?

The pro is that someone could make use of the life I do not want.

The con is that I'm going to be chopped up, which is a pretty horrible thought.

No, because my organs are fucked up because of drug use and i dont like they thought of my organs inside someone else

They can use them if you are brain dead, but physically alive.
Any poison or body death would ruin them.

Yes but, seeing as it will likely be a DIY suicide for me, it's unlikely they will be able to harvest them in time. Plus, they'll likely be spoilt due to SN or, too unhealthy anyway.

I imagine most 'unofficial' suicides go for autopsy anyway so, I imagine being sliced up is unavoidable for DIY attempts.

I chose to donate mine. I don't really understand the downside. Feels good that they might be able to help someone. And I'm going to be cremated anyway so being chopped up post death really doesn't even register for me.

Im a fully registerd all viable body parts are available for use.. i have also sorted that my body is to be donated to a university for either research or student trianing ... i actually always wanted to do this since i was 16.. my mum died at 42 a week after my 16th birthday ..it was down to a mistake made by a young surgeon doing a fairly routine surgery but it went wrong.. since then ive always said that i want people to learn to prevent this happening to some one else..i see no need to hold all these bullshit services to tell stories about how vreat i was a person its bollocks .. use what you can and learn from me there is e ough wrong with my body you could write a paper on ..." how the fuck did this guy live this long "
Its somethi g we should all do science needa to progress and it cant with out donations be it finacial or other wise ..

Not me, I'm too selfish for that, I want every organ to still be in my body when I'm placed in that high mausoleum crypt

I wish it was possible. When I CTB my organs probably won't be viable. One of the reasons I want to die painlessly in a hospital. At least my life would have had some kind of meaning

I am a registered organ donor. Bummed they will not be able to use any of my stuff if I CTB.

I know someone who received organs from a donor and lived happily for over 20 years. I am a registered donor but unfortunately my organs would not be viable. I would if I could but I can't.

There was a documented medical case of a woman that donated her organs after suicide by SN.
She was in her late teens (not minor), they recipient of the organ was a middle aged woman.
The organ were in good conditions and the transplantation was successful.

Yes I would. If I could give my life to someone who wants to live and I could just not exist, that'd be great. But that's not realistic, the closest thing would be donating my organs. Too bad euthanasia isn't available for me, my organs will probably go to waste.

My method of CTB would not allow my organs to be harvested after, but if I was to be peacefully euthanized, I wouldn't mind giving somebody else some spare parts.

I signed up to be a donor as soon as I was legal age to do so--they can take any and all parts of me for transplants or research. It may not be viable depending on how I die, but the option is there.

My organs won't be viable with the method I'm going out with, also I can't stand the thought of my body parts being in another person. Maybe an animal tho, if only that were possible. Lol

Thanks all for your replies. Such a mix of views, as always, which is really helpful. I think even if you are dead by suicide they can use your body. @martinso67, that's impressive that even with SN suicide parts could be used. Do you remember what parts were used?

Here in Spain if you die by euthanasia, you can choose where to die, such as your home or the hospital. But if you're an organ donor you have to die in hospital. But that's where I want to go anyway. I like the idea of going into the hospital for a 'procedure' that kills me. I'm already an organ donor but I am rethinking it now in the context of euthanasia.

Absolutely, my organs are healthy as fuck except my eyes . Considering my mental health is fucked atleast my physical health might help someone who ACTUALLY wanna lives but if somehow they suicide later then shits fucked .i will get my organs donated one way or another

I plan to donate my organs, I hope some of my organs could be of use to another person or to be studied at the very least.

I can't think of anything more selfish than refusing to donate your organs. I mean if you're dead then what use will they be to you?

I also can't accept people refusing to donate for religious reasons, as a catholic my soul is what matters and not my body.

I don't understand how it would creep people out either, you won't know about the process if your dead.

I do think it's selfish but everyone should have a right to decide what happens, regardless of my stance people should have autonomy.

It creeps me out to think of others walking around with my organs, but it also makes me happy to think that I may help someone out. I think there are a lot of reasons why people may not want to, some of which are posted in this thread. I don't think there's any one good reason to donate or not. It's a personal choice - very, very personal. In fact, I don't think there is a more personal choice available to us.

@Apathy79, I like what you said, "And I'm going to be cremated anyway so being chopped up post death really doesn't even register for me." I never thought of that. I too am going to be cremated. And so of course if I'm being burned to a crisp in a blazing fire, what the heck does it matter if they chop me up before that?!
