It doesn't influence the blood flow to/from your brain so I don't think it would keep you conscious. Music is nice, I say go for it.

I imagine if you're blacking out quickly enough, it really won't make much of a difference one way or another. I would comment, though, that if you were playing music, are you in a place where someone else might take notice and rescue?
