My sister's beautiful and vibrant friend died last week. She and her wife used a sperm doner to get pregnant. It wasn't easy and it was expensive. They were so happy to be having this baby. For whatever reason she needed a c-section. Baby came out healthy and she got to hold him for a few minutes. Suddenly she didn't feel right and she died. She was bleeding out and nobody noticed!! They got her heart back but it was too late and she was brain dead. She couldn't even donate her organs.
Family had to pull the plug. So fucking sad. I wish I could trade places with her.
@dust-in-the-wind Childbirth is one of the most dangerous things a woman can go through in her life.
Society glamorousies pregnancy and childbirth but fails to acknowledge that pregnancy and childbirth is so dangerous with a risk of death.
Rest In Peace to your sisters friend.
The fact that life is totally random is what can make it so terrifying. I feel so sorry for that family, what a horrible loss :(
@nir it's so weird death comes for people who actually want to live but death ignores those who wish to die.
I admit I live so dangerously but I still can't die but someone who wanted to live ends up dying in a random road accident, accidental choking on food in a restaurant, fall down some stairs or just some accident it's so not fair.
Life is such a cruel game
Yes uSA. The Dr hit an artery when he sewed her up. There will be a lawsuit on the hospital.
@dust-in-the-wind It is negligence. All the money in the world can never bring her back.
We trust doctors to keep us safe and it's scary when doctors fall to do so.
This should have been a joyful time for the family and it ended up like this. A newborn baby is a symbol of new life, new fresh start and is supposed to be a happy time but instead a family are planning for a funeral and that child is going to grow up without a mother.
