Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Seems to have unnecessary obstacles compared to say, generally always available options like jumping off a bridge over a river.

Welcome (btw, I'm surprised gun method isn't mentioned as much... tho the point and click nature (I'm simplifying) makes it too fast for a goodbye thread sometimes)

Indeed, I was surprised when this "SN" thing was discussed as far back as 2019. I didn't look further into it because it seemed to be some chemical (and I didn't have access to my bank account yet!).

It's claimed to be this simple, nearly painless process, but from @2ndme's I feel regretful post (after taking it in 2024), the reality set in... it might not always be the happy-go-lucky way out.

I suppose everyone has their own reasons for being interested in some methods over others. For me- I have considered jumping. There is even a popular spot within a day's travel from me. A high bridge over water. People have survived attempts there though- with horrible injuries.

Plus- I imagine the SI must be huge to get over with jumping. I feel it's more likely I will be able to drink something as opposed to leaping off something very high up.

Obviously, no method is fool proof when it comes to surving with injuries but, with SN, at least some have seemed to have recovered reasonably unscathed. Not all- I'm sure. And failure is possible with all DIY methods.

There are other things to take into account too. What type of pain we are willing to go through. How concerned we are about involving other people/ witnesses. I imagine methods like jumping and train are more unpleasant to deal with for those left behind.

I also think inert gas sounds feasible but, I don't want to store a big gas cylinder. The setup is more complicated too.

I guess we all have certain things we can envisage ourselves doing over others.

Feeling regret has nothing to do with the chosen method though...

It's partly the forum evolution. When I first got here, all anyone talked about was N. It was the best. There were a few reliable providers. Expensive but very peaceful and virtually certain death. Then over time it got impossible to get anywhere. And SN became the new thing. Less reliable and less peaceful but cheaper and more readily available. Anyone could get it for hardly anything. And users developed detailed protocols that made it all work smoothly. And everyone got excited. But gradually since then its popularity has caused it to be watched more closely, restricted, harder to get. But still reasonably accessible - much harder to restrict than N because of all its legitimate uses.

But yeah, if you look at broader suicide stats outside this forum, guns and hanging are still the overwhelming majority. SN barely registers yet.

I jumped 8 stories and have life altering injuries. I hope everyone can learn from my mistakes.

A lot of people have wondered the same thing. I am sure the amount of discussion it gets is very striking to new users who were nor familiar with it. In the early forum days SN was extremely easy to procure and all of its other properties were gauged and assessed in light of that fact. The attention it gets is a relic of that state of affairs.

Is there a newer, more easily available method than SN to ctb? I think SN is still discussed since it's still relatively achievable compared to other methods.

true.

Also... guns aren't easy to get in most countries (and maybe the SI of hanging, jumping, etc is more than drinking certain compounds)
