I've been told I'll devastate all my friends with suicide despite me not having one since I was in primary school. People just can't seem to fathom that not everyone has someone who cares about them.
As far as I can see it, we always compare ourselves to others. Analogically, we compare others to ourselves, assuming that they are alike us. We imagine what would happen in our lives if we ctb, and see the negatives. So we assume that this is the same for everyone.
I guess it's simply because of egoistic nature of humans.
