Because a lot of people see no hope, and sometimes advice doesn't help. Either people can't get the resources they need to feel better, or some things just don't seem fixable, or both. People trying to help can only do so much. For some people the depressive feelings just keep coming back strong enough to not let them see any other way out

The world is on a path to collapse, things are only becoming worse because of human greed, narcissism and selfishness. Inequality is rising, climate change is being destructive, there are less men involved in the workforce than ever, the rate of major advancements in technology is slowing and technology isn't being used to benefit anyone other than the economic and political elite. Considering the way things are going the rate of CTB will continue to drastically increase in the future, due to shitty conditions society has condemned millions of people to due to genetic factors beyond their control.

I don't even really understand why one would need to ask this question, the answer is obvious. To die is simply the preferable option to existing in this hellish world and humans have enough awareness to realise that existence isn't worth enduring. There is no benefit and nothing to be gained by staying here and having to suffer, we are all going to die anyway so I believe that for many it makes sense for them to exit at a time of their own choosing and avoid delaying the inevitable. There is no "help". Life itself is the true problem, and to exist is an awful thing. The idea that this logical truth can be "helped", is just people deluding themselves.

Choosing to die can be the most rational solution that makes sense and it's not a mental illness being suicidal. To me the illness lies in those who glorify suffering and try to justify the harsh reality of this existence. The simple truth is that all torture is unacceptable and undesirable, and I could never wish to associate with something that is as harmful as existence. To die solves everything and I believe there to be no disadvantages to being dead. No wonder so many choose to die, and I truly believe that only those who are free from this cruel, unnecessary burden called existence are the fortunate ones.

Supposedly it's not millions, it's around 800k successful suicides a year. Attempts would definitely be in the millions, though. And it makes sense because of how horrible life can be. So frightening and cruel that it's hard to believe. It's a twisted kind of consolation that at least we can escape the torments in life by destroying ourselves. Why those torments had to happen at all, is the all-too-frustrating question.
